Hi. I am having some unusual symptoms after an encounter, and I’m looking for some guidance. I had protect sex with an escort on May 27th however, I performed unprotected oral on her for only a few minutes and mostly just on the surface. (If that matters). Less than 24hours later I started to develop a sore throat, and by the next morning I had a very sore throat with red, swollen tonsils with white spots on them. This cleared up within a couple of days with no further symptoms. I didn’t give it much thought at the time. Then, on June 29th, (over a month later!) I again had protected sex with the same escort and again performed unprotected oral on her in the same manner. Again, within 24 hours, I developed a very sore throat that appeared red and irritated (no white spots this time.) which again, cleared up within a couple days. This time however I have been having several lingering symptoms that seem to come and go. These include head ache and soreness and tenderness in my neck. (Which I’m guessing are sore lymph nodes.) I also seem to feel a bit of pressure in my ears sometimes. My actual throat has not been sore since the initial couple of days. I also seem to have to clear my throat frequently when I am having these symptoms. I have read that these may be similar to symptoms of throat gonorrhea. I have also read that oral gonorrhea is somewhat rare, especially from performing cunilingus. So I guess my questions are these!
1- Does everything I’ve described lead you to believe this could be oral gonerrhea?
2- I have also read that oral gonorrhea has the potential to clear up on its own. I am almost 8 weeks since the Initial exposure. And the symptoms continue. I’m wondering your opinion on this.
3- is it possible these syptoms could be caused by stress and/or anxiety? I do tend to stress a bit about the risks when I indulge in these activities and have had “phantom” symptoms in the past that have amounted to nothing. (Not these symptoms specifically, though)
I realize that testing is the only true way to know, but I am hesitant to get tested currently because I live in a small town and I have family that works in the local health unit. And help would be appreciated!
