Single, red, painless bump

So I'm guessing I'm overreacting, but I want to make sure to hear that I am from other people before I rest easy. So a little less than a week ago after sex with my girlfriend of 2.5 years I noticed a single red bump on the tip of my penis. Generally she has a lot of moisture issues because of medications, so there is often irritation as a result of this, but never in this spot and never as a small bump (roughly the size of a ball point pen tip). I don't know if the bump was there before we had sex or only appeared after, but I only noticed it after. I went to see my doctor a couple days later and he took a look and pointed out that it was a little red in the general area but that there weren't any other bumps or sores, that there was no swelling in my glands, no pain during urination, and that I had nothing to worry about. He didn't take a sample, but didn't appear as though he felt there was a need to either. I'm only concerned because it's a few days later (Wednesday night I first spotted it, Friday I went to the docs, now Monday it's still there) and there's no test saying it's not herpes, just that my doctor assured me that it wasn't. Am I overreacting, should I go in and ask for a test or rest easy knowing that a medical professional has looked it over and determined that it's not herpes?

just get the blood work done and know for certain one way or the other. Doctors are just people and do make mistakes from time to time.

I don't think my girlfriend would cheat on me, and we've talked about STD stuff and we're both clean (or are as far as I know), but I was only concerned because I was under the impression that they never really have a set timeframe that herpes symptoms can manifest if you have it, it could be a while before anything shows up if at all, so I figured it'd be worth asking about. In addition I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, so any abnormality anywhere on me is worst case scenario.

why would you think it is herpes?  does your gf have herpes?  if you've been together for 2.5 years, surely you have had the conversation before?

listen to your doc, its probably nothing (a clogged pore most likely).

if you feel you have reason to be concerned (i.e. gf is cheating on you) then get tested but from the sounds of this its not STD related.
