Straight guy revieved unprotected oral from male

I am a 23 year old straight guy and i received unprotected oral sex from a gay male 4 days ago. This man cleanness is questionable. I received oral with no condom for a few minutes and did not ejaculate. I had taken a considerable amount of alcohol and some drugs before the encounter. I continued to drink (partially out of worry) for the next two nights and today i experienced symptoms similar to Delirium Tremens which lasted all day. What is my risk factor? Should i get checked?

Hi there -

It sounds as if you have a lot going on.

First, cleanliness is judged by showering, not infections.  Your chances of getting an std are pretty low, and you'd only be at risk for gonorrhea, syphilis, and NGU.  Those are easily tested for and easily cured.

The other thing is what is clearly an alcohol problem.  If you drink this much to the point you are getting withdrawal symptoms, its time to address that problem.   We have a wonderful alcoholism forum that you might visit, and you might get some good insight to whether you have a physical addiction to alcohol or not.  I would also talk to your doctor about this when you get checked for stds - and you should since you are so worried - and perhaps get some info from your doctor.

You can test for gonorrhea and NGU at a week post exposure, and syphilis at 6 weeks.  Should you get a sore on your penis earlier then 6 weeks, then see your doctor immediately.
