Swab tests for Gonorrehea and Clamydia- are there any better tests?

I was exposed to an std 25 years ago and never treated. During the last few years I have been tested for Syphillis and HIV (blood test) and swab tested (a couple of different times) for Gonorrehea and Clamydia. All tests have come back negative, but I am sure there is something there. I have been to a urologist and have had my uretha scoped into the bladder and he didn't see any sign of infection. I have taken numerous antibiotics hoping something would help. The symptoms persisit and are burning/stinging when uriniating. I have been married for over ten years and have two kids. My wife says that they would have tested her for std's during both pregnanacies.

Is there a sure fire test that can tell if there is something there (even if it has been there for this long)?  Also, can it be treated after this amount of time?

A negative test would rule out gonorrhea or chlymida. Sawb or urine test would detect it no matter how long you had it. The Dr's on this site say that a lot of time after a year or so the body will fight off the infection like gonorrhea or chlymida. I do not know how much weight that has but it is a statement made by at least one of the Dr's from this site.
Yes if you had say gonorrhea for 2 years and it got treated or however you got rid of it any damage done would still be there.

My wife is currently pregnant and she was tested for all STD. I am pretty sure it is common practice everywhere in the world because you do not want a baby born with gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV or any STD.

Thanks for the response. Yes the prostate exams have come back fine.

A couple more quick questions..... is there a test that could totally rule out Clamydia and Gonorrehea that has been there that long?

Also- I have heard that possibly your body could heal itself from the infection and may have done some damage somewhere along the uretha track that causes pain when uriniating. Is that possible? While the scope did not show any scarring in the uretha.

Lastly, when pregnant do all women recieve tests for std's as standard practice?

It couldn't have been there that long.  You would have been very very sick a very very long time ago.

All your tests are negative, your wife's tests are negative.  If you've had a prostate exam, and that's normal too, then the only thing I can suggest at this point is to make sure you drink enough water and not too much caffeine or alcohol.
