I agree, your doctor is being extremely cautious -- more than necessary, in my opinion. I truly believe you have nohtibg to worry about in regard to HIV, syphilis, or any other STD.
Thanks Howard, my doctor must be taking extra measures then. I saw him a little over a month ago and he told me to not have sexual contact until the tests at one month mark. I have had tremendous anxiety from my experience and still even feel like I might be in the risk for even hiv! As you have read my first post a month ago, I used a condom. Do you really think I have nothing to worry about hiv? Thank you and I'm sorry for asking again.
In the US, heterosexually transmitted syphilis is very rare, even with a "risky" partner. The large majority of cases are in gay men. In fact, heterosexual syphilis is entirely absent in most geographic areas of the country. And with protected sex, the chance you caught syphilis is zero for all practical purposes. From a syphilis perspective, you needn't have stopped having sex with your partner and can safely resume contact now.
You can expect a negative blood test result, but if you need proof from the blood test, you'll have to wait until 6 weeks after exposure.
