Transmission of STI

Hello.  Wondering how the transmission of Sti occurs outside of the area but civered by condoms. So for example if the girls is on top how would an sti transmit to the male when having intercourse?  Skin to skin I see all the time but there would have to be an open cut for it to get into male correct?  Thank you in advance for response.

Condoms offer significant, but not full protection, for infections that are transmitted by direct skin-to-skin contact, like herpes, HPV, and syphilis. They can be transmitted in areas that the condom doesn't cover.

However, most transmissions occur to men on the shaft of the penis, which is covered by the condom, as that skin is the thinnest.
