What are the accurate test for late stage syphlisis

Iam facing symptoms of neuro syphlisis memory loss, eye problem(letteres are slightly moving),loss of appetite,lympnodes in groin,I had vdrl positive 17 years back i got treatment with dermotologist i don't know which treatment taken at that time present my age is 32.i got vdrl it's negative my wife also taken vdrl test (recently married) after exposure of two months it's negative .pls tell accurate test for late stage syphlisis as well as early stage syphlisis. Pls suggest

I think there are dozens of other causes for your symptoms that would come to mind before late stage syphilis.

Your VDRL is negative, meaning you don't have syphilis. I'd consult with a neurologist, and see if there is another explanation.

I think you are probably anxious for nothing, really. But syphilis in its latent stage can be seen only in a blood test. Treponemal tests (TPPA, FTA-ABS) are the most accurate tests with latent syphilis. Pretty unlikely but you can talk to your doctor about that test. https://medlineplus.gov/lab-tests/syphilis-tests/  Early stage, well. Normally, you don't need to test unless you develop symptoms. Early stage syphilis can be tested at 3 to 4 weeks post exposure with Fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption (FTA-ABS) test.  There's also the RPR test you can do 2 to 3 weeks after exposure.
