Towards the end of May 2018, I had unprotected oral sex with a male partner. A couple of days later I woke up with a scratchy throat and white pus all over my tonsils. I'm talking everywhere. I've never had strep or mono and have never experienced anything that looked like that before. It didn't hurt that bad. I've had worse sore throats without my tonsils even looking red before. I was really freaked out, was running a bit of a temp (99.6) and the doctor immediately told me I had strep, I was never tested. He prescribed 10 days of Augmentin, I gargled with salt water, and it all went away in a couple of days. In the beginning of July, I again had unprotected oral sex with the same male partner, this time I woke up with white pus all over my tonsils again about 5 days later. No temp or any pain/discomfort at all this time. Went back to the doctor and they said this has to be mono. I was given azithromycin, it was either 7 or 10 days, I can't remember. It all cleared up with this and gargling with salt water and I haven't had oral sex since. In August, however, I did see a very tiny white dot of pus on my tonsils that went away on its own.
In October I decided I should just go get tested to make sure everything is gone if there ever was anything serious even though I didn't have symptoms anymore. I went to urgent care and they seemed mostly concerned about herpes and mono. My blood tests were all coming back negative. They swabbed me for some kind of herpes and also chlamydia (but not gonorrhea?), but the swabs were done wrong and rejected by the lab. They didn't wanna retest me since i didn't have symptoms anymore and said it would be a waste because it would come back negative.
Since then I've gotten a sinus infection and was on 7 days of Doxycycline, which I read is the treatment for chlamydia, so I'm not concerned about oral chlamydia anymore. I'm still concerned about it being oral gonorrhea since I did not receive the specific treatment for that, but I read that oral gonorrhea clears up within 3 months anyway, and I've read about studies where Augmentin, Azithromycin, and Doxycycline have had an effect on the disease. I called the health department to see if they did swab tests and they don't.
Is it likely that I caught oral gonorrhea? Do I need to be concerned about it still being there despite how long I've gone without symptoms/how long since possible exposure/how many antibiotics I've been on? My doctor just didn't seem to be concerned about chlamydia/gonorrhea, but I don't want to spread this to someone else.
