STD / NSU

Hello,

On december 30th 2014 i received oral sex from a massage parlor  in the southern area of Thailand. After 45 mins i went back to my hotel and took a shower and used listerine on the tip of my penis to clean ( big mistake).

Two days after this incident i was urinating a lot and felt discomfort on the tip. After the 7th day i went to a clinic and took a urine dip stick test and told me i have white cells so they gave me ciprofloxacin for 7 days.

After i finished the course which at that time i was back home, i was still feeling symptoms, so i went to a GU clinic. The doctor took a swab test and found an inflammation in my urethra and he told me i have NSU and he gave me doxycycline for 7 days which my symptoms improved. I also did test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, Mycoplasma genitalium and they came out negative.

One Day after i finished the course of doxy, i went again to my GU doctor to let him know that i still feel some symptoms, he took another swab test and told me that the inflammation is cleared and i only have a little trace which is normal, and he advised to come back after 3 to 4 weeks if the symptoms persist. After 32 days from the encounter i took further test for HIV, Syphilis, HSV 1, HSV 2 and also came out negative.

Three weeks after i finished my first course of doxy which at that time i was feeling ok, i had sex with my regular partner and 3 days after i started to feel symptoms again and i took another 7 day course without asking my GU doctor. Today is the 37th day after i first started taking doxy and i still have some miner symptoms.

My questions are:

Is it normal that NSU symptoms persists more than one month?

Is it possible to have prostatis after NSU?

Do you think i need further testing or re-testing?

Is it possible to infect my partner with NSU after 3 weeks of my first doxy treatment?

Many thanks for your help

Hey thanks for your comment.

If i remember correctly my doc told me that there were no bacteria, just urethra inflammed, so that s why i think the listerine did all this.

So from your experience on this site, you think i wait fro this to clear up before i go to my GU doctor again? And if there was an infection you think with two doxy courses had cleared up?

Thanks for your time

Hi, many times folks post here about continuing irritation symptoms persisting well past medication treatment inside the urethra. If an NGU had been the source of the infection and has been treated, depending on the injury done, there may lingering sensitivity from damage to sensitive tissues esp when making contact with urine.
