strangle pus filled bumps around anus

i had some uncomfortable feeling. more like acute discomfort  around my anus. i put it off because i had exercised and was hit and sweated. fast forward a few days later. and i looked with a mirror to be confronted with redness and pimple looking bumps around my anus. the redness is in my bottom crack. i have no pain. i have been applying nappy rash cream and feel over the last 24 hours has some what improved. i am concerned with it being herpies. i read articles off the net. one minute i think they arent herpies. the next im convinced i have them. the bumps are seperate but cover my bum area. they almost look like they have had a head. i have picked some of the pimples. and would say they are getting smaller and healing.

Internet is confusing.  What is the best thing is to see a doctor to make sure.  It very well could be nothing.  But have you had sex with a new partner or something that was unprotected?

heres some reading material. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/genital-herpes/symptoms-causes/syc-20356161.  Big question is if you had a risk recently that could give you genital herpes.
thankyou for your reply. i havent had sex with a new partner. As of today. i have no bumps only redness. i used a zinc cream. like the ones Moms can use for diaper rash. it has never been itchy or painful. just weirdly with bumps and redness. if it flairs up again. i will go to the doctor. as of now it’s definitely healing and getting better
