Freckle that grew

Hi, i think i asked this in the wrong forum, so ill try again.

I have a freckle of about 3mm brown colour (all the one colour) fairly symmetrical on my boob. I know i definately have it about seven years. But during that time it did grow a bit, maybe from about 1.5-2mm, but it hasnt really done anything now for over two years.

Last week i decided i bring it up with the doctor, just because im a particularly moley person and in the back of my mind i had noticed it changed a bit.

She checked it and said she was not concerned, and said as i was worried she could send me to the dermatologist to have a look at it, but there is a big waiting list, which im on now anyway, i then went to a second GP just for peace of mind and as i may be waiting a while to have it checked, and he too, said it looked fairly unsuspect and that these things can happen, but i am right to just get it checked out when i have a second.

My question is, could this little freckle really be melanoma and may i have left to too late now as i have it for years? Does it sound untypical of a usual melenoma to you?

Thanks yeah has been there since I remember viewing this mole, a good few years now. The mole did start off about half the size of the 3mm it is now and changed shape slightly but hasn't done much if anything now in a couple of years

Can see the white dot. But sometime can happen with moles over time. If it is a recent change (less than 6-8 weeks), needs a closer look by a dermatologist. However unlikely to still be of any worry! If it has always been there then forget about it and relax

Thanks a mill, i just uploaded a really clear photo of it there that i took earlier under a light. Do you see the tiny white dot over to the left, is that of concern or can that just happen? it looks to me just like one of my pores that the freckle doesnt fill, and the freckle is perfectly flat with no raised bits, the photo i speak of is on my actual profile, not the one i have as my profile pic. Thanks and sorry about all the questions, i have to stop googling because i keep convincing myself its bad even though ive been told by two health professionals and yourself it looks fine.

GP's are generally very good at trouble shooting suspicious lesions. I wouldn't worry too much about it and wait to see your local dermatologist. You might find this link useful though http://www.nhs.uk/tools/pages/moleassessment.aspx
