Hi, welcome to the forum. Yes, sleep apnea is known to be associated with health problems. They are mainly associated with cardiovascular diseases such as systemic hypertension and mild pulmonary hypertension. It has also been associated with myocardial infarction (heart attack), cerebrovascular disease (strokes), and cardiac arrhythmias.
It also is associated with daytime sleepiness, inattention, and fatigue, impairment of daily function and increases the likelihood of errors and accidents. The risk of death is around 3-6 times than normal population.

Take care and regards.
Most definitely!!! My husband has sleep apnea. It can lead to all kinds of problems including high blood pressure. Not to mention that if you stop breathing for too long, you can die in your sleep. If you suspect you or someone you know may have it, you should definitely get it checked out.
