The cigereets make you less calm.It feels like the smokes is whats calming you down but really I smoked for 23 or so years about a pack in a half a day.I have been free of smokes for over a year now and I am so much calmer.Anxiety is still there but I have more control over it.I am so happy to get out of that trap
never, ever. If you are so concerned, then perhaps you should talk to your physician about it. I'm sure there is something he can prescribe, short term, to get you through the most anxious times.
You really shouldn't work yourself up so, most of the anxiety comes from the anticipation. If you know you are ready to quit, and have mentally prepared yourself for it, then just do it.
This is really a very positive thing and that's what you need to focus on. Keep reminding yourself of all the great things that will come out of it.
Thank you Kathy,
I do have 1 more Q for you. Have you heard of anyone go insane due to quitting cigarettes?

My problems caused by smoking are dizziness, derealization and fear. Weird isnt it?
I get angry when I attempt to quit so I fear I could go psychotic.
You are right, smoking is definitely a negative even though some of us believe the opposite.
As an ex-smoker and someone who had panic and anxiety, I can say that I was never suicidal and my panic/anxiety actually got a lot better after quitting.
Good luck to you.
