1) Don't keep a record of how long it's been since your last cigarette... this is a subconscious way of 'never letting go'..
NO ANNIVERSERIES!!!! Forget about the habit; forget that you ever did smoke!!! Yes, there will be those moments, where you will unconsciously reach for a cigarette; after a meal, while having a drink, whatever....but just laugh about it and continue on.. Here is something that was given to me when I stopped smoking (circa 1989) and whenever I had the urge to smoke, I would read this to myself 3 times....by this time, I had removed the temptation.
"I have a stronger feeling everyday that I am in complete control of losing the smoking habit and I keep my determination to succeed. I let no situation allow my enemy, the cigarette, to gain control. I continually picture myself as a NON-SMOKER......HEALTHY, PROUD AND CONFIDENT with CLEANER LUNGS, A STEADY HEARTBEAT and BETTER BREATHING ABILITY.. Being the BOSS, rather than a slave, is more important to me than seeking MOMENTARY pleasure, allowing long-range damage to my body. Every hour as a non-smoker is a victory.
I AM THE BOSS!!!!!"
It is NOT easy to quit.... you must want to quit to live a healthier life.... maybe even to see your grandkids graduate HS or College????
