I quit cold turkey. I guess for me I stopped making excuses to smoke.
Time Smoke-Free: 389 days, 16 hours, 39 minutes and 26 seconds
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 9742
Lifetime Saved: 2 months, 14 days, 10 hours
I have quit many times. Today I have been a non smoker for 13 days. I've had up to 5 years as a non smoker and could kick myself now but that is another story. I am using the patch. I think with any addiction it takes a certain amount of motivation and determination. My son visited his grandpa, my enstranged dad, right before Christmas. His grandpa is dying from lung cancer, has had 1/2 of one lung removed, 2 ribs and discontinued chemo. My son saw this first hand and when he got home he begged me constantly to quit smoking. One day, with tears in his eyes and cuss words flying he told me that he wanted me to live to see his kids someday. This is my motivation. I carry my sons pic around with me during the day.
Smoking is a very strong addiction yet it can be stopped. Joshua's grandpa is still smoking like there is no tomorrow which it may just be that way. I also cruised around the whyquit.com site. Some great information is on there. You will find a lot of support here too and I hope you keep posting and posting and posting!!!! We are here for you as you are our inspiration too.

I quit using Chantix and I have been "quit" for 1 yr. 3 mos. 3 wks. and 1 dy.
I smoked for 38 years and never believed I would be able to say that I am an ex : )
Chantix has it's side effects but I was one of the lucky ones and only had a bit of queasiness.
There are many choices for your quit so do your research and you may want to start off at whyquitdotcom
We are here for support so if you have any questions or just need the help, post.
