These are the things I did to lose about 80 lbs now...
Stop drinking soda. ALL soda.
Stop eating fast food. If you must (long road trip) remember portion control. Order half of what you normally do.
Start drinking water. As much as you can stand. (this was hard for me. I liked pop. I drank less than 8 oz of water a day...but not drinking water can lead to water retention cuz your body thinks you're in a desert so it stores it) Goal - pee clear. The less color your pee has - the better - this means you're successfully flushing out toxins..
I started with diet because exercise was not my favorite thing. I hated being winded. I hated not being able to do much before my heart would race...and I hated being tired, sweaty...everything about it.
It's hard to do some sort of 'special' diet. My suggestion is just watch your portions. If you want pizza - have pizza...but have 1 slice or 2. Not 4. (that's not an insult to suggest you eat half a pizza at once...but I DID...without even really noticing it) I stopped eating while I watched TV - I ate slower. I waited 10 minutes before getting seconds so I could tell if I was actually still hungry...or just used to eating so much. I realized half the time I was eating - was really that I was thirsty and had denied myself water. (and pop dehydrates)
Once I lost 50 lbs just on diet change...I started exercise. You have to set out a specific TIME to do it or you will put it off. I started with walking. Just around the block. Then around two blocks...and so forth. That works for some...for me, I felt too exposed. SO, I started a fitness class. I did low impact. I thought i'd be embarrassed (and I was at first) but I've been going for 3 months and all the women there are so supportive. They're so happy to see me trying and then after a few weeks and you see a difference, you get this encouragement and that helps a LOT. Having a set time to exercise helps...
Anyway, take care. Watch portions. Cut out pop and fast food - and exercise - even if it's just walking 10 minutes a day!
NO SURGERY until you've exhausted these options!
Are your periods normal? Could be a chance that you may have PCOS. Most cases of that include, being overweight (mostly in stomach area), irregular periods, excess hair. Might want to go to your gyn to rule that. Also if you have PCOS, you may be insulin resistant meaning your body isn't breaking down the excess sugar. I take metformin 500mg 2x a day and since September 2008 I have lost 55lbs. I feel better. I use to weigh 333lbs and Im now down to 278.
Anyways too help with the diet check out my journel on my page for some food options to help speed up your metabolism. Eating 5-6 small meals a day is known to help with that. I'm trying that out starting Sunday, I feel I really slipped off my diet so Im changing it up.
My journel is called "Need YOUR Opinion". Check it out. Alot of the ladies gave great tips on it. Also start walking about 30 mins a day, it REALLY helps!!!! And if you like green tea, drink that. It's great for weight loss!
Take care!
i think you should have a test done for hypo-thyroidism before the doctors go and do anything, along with that they should do a liver enzyme panel, i wouldnt go with the surgery yet...there are better ways to lose weight, i have a friend that weighed 300lbs...we call him Fluff..hes a great guy though...the doctors wanted him to do the surgery...im a med student and i told him not to he got on a modified diet and hes down to 240 in five months...so my best advise would be keep trying and get a few tests done to ensure your weight gain problem isnt medically related
