Testicular Atrophy

My son age 17+ has his right testis shrunken. Is it a reversible condition? What are the causes and likely treatment? His doctor says everything is alright. I am little skeptical. From his ultrasound report it is revealed that his right testis measures 1.3x0.8 cm. He feels no pain - no other visible symptom.
This is an appeal to the specialist concerned. Please help

My son has much smaller than normaal testicles, as in both are small. What can be the cause? Can it be corrected? He is 16 years old.

Hi!
An average testicle is about 2 to 3 cm in wide and 3 to 5 cm long. If only one testicle is shrinking, the cause is either a local cut off of blood supply or a nerve injury. Your son would need dopplar studies to find any blockage in blood vessels and nerve conduction studies are needed to check nerve injury. Other cause could be an injury to the testicle. It is important you take a second opinion from an urologist and get your son investigated. Take care!
