sex eight days ago

I know that I'm bad and shouldn't have sex but whatever, I did, and we used a condom but I'm afraid it spilled. I was expecting my period around the time I had sex, and I haven't had it yet. I'm not sure if I'm just paranoid or if I should take a test. Now this also begs the question... after having sex, how long should I wait before I take the test? I've heard two weeks, but I'm feeling a little messed up because I'm so worried. And one final thing, if you are pregnant, when do you start to be all hormonal and the likes, because I've been feeling like that lately, and I'm hoping it's a sign of my period.

I think sweetpea gave an excellent answer. Take a home pregnancy test (use first morning urine) 14 days after you had sex if you still haven't got your period. If it is negative, wait a week and test again if your period still hasn't come. If it is still negative, you may want to see your health care provider for a blood test.

Keep in mind that it is completely normal to have irregular periods in the first 5 years or so after your first start menstruating and if you are stressing, your periods are more likely to be disrupted.

Well first off, you're not "bad" for having sex. If you felt ready and were sure you wanted to have sex with this guy, then you can. There's nothing wrong with that, just as long as you are responsible and take care of yourself by protecting your body against STDs and pregnancy. Stress can make your period late and if this was your first time, then it can also delay your period as the hormones get changed a bit after having sex. I would guess that is the reason for your delayed period and not pregnancy. You can take a home pregnancy test 2 weeks after having sex in order to get an accurate result. If you take it before then, then you risk getting a false negative. It could easily just be PMS making you feel emotional. Try to relax and wait for your period to come. Take care.
