6 weeks after RAI

I had RAI 6 weeks ago for Graves Disease. Before the RAI my TSH was .02 and T4 was 36. I just had the blood tests you are supposed to have after 6 weeks, and my T4 level is now 56.6! I suspected it was really high again as I had the heart palpitation bad this week. Do you think the RAI didn't work? is it too soon? isn't a level of 56.6 dangerous?

thanks

Not dangerous - and yes - it is way to soon.

RAI takes anywhere from 6 months to a year before you get actual results. Your doctor needs to keep a close eye on these tests and base treatment on each blood test you take. It would be best (since you are in your first stages) to keep track of this yourself too

FYI - use your TSH test results first - then compare your T4 and T3's - this will help you see changes. Watch your TSH - it should start to climb and at best it should be a 1.0-1.5.
