Can you have an hypothyroidism crisis?

HI.
I found 9 year ago that my tsh was 19, i took medication for a while and stopped it, On june I started with a crisis. I was not able to walk to the bathroom without feeling tired, not able to sleep cause i felt lack of breath. I had started to feel so tired and sleeepy months ago, but I would love to know if it can be an hypothiroidism crisis.
Can you also tell me if  foot swelling is related to hypo.? Can you tell me about stomach sensations related to hypo?
Can you tell me if it is normal that having a tsh of 23 now, I have been losing weight instead of winning it and I have having a not slow heartbeat?
Can a crisis be over in how long?
Please help me with your experiences.

Hi,

You neeed to see your doctor immediately for treatment.

As Goolarra said, the 'crisis' will not be over without treatment.  Treatment is thyroid meds.  This should be under medical supervision.

Please don't put this off.  Failure to get treatment can be very serious, you will feel terrible and can eventually lapse into a coma and die.

If you are really feeling terrible, take your results and go to the ER.  Tell them how bad you are feelign and they will get you started on treatment.

Let us know how you go.

You must have your levels tested immediately...free T3 (FT3), free T4 (FT4) and TSH.  If you have recent results, please post them with their reference ranges and dates.

Your symptoms sound like you are severely hypothyroid.  Fatigue, swelling, etc. are all signs.  If you are severely hypo, the crisis will not "be over"; it will only get worse.  You need to get immediate attention.
