I have eliminated nearly everything from food and environmental factors to medication trying to figure out the intense itching of my scalp. The dermatologist has taken multiple biopsies and prescribed several topicals but my scalp won't stop itching. I've added antihistamines that have been of minor help. I began having an itchy rash on my arms which got under control with medication, but once the scalp began itching, nothing works to relieve it. My hair falls out constantly, clogging the shower drain or floating to my arms where it drives me crazy. The very last medication to eliminate for the purpose of trying to figure this out will be the Armour thyroid. Just knowing other people are questioning a link between their thyroid meds and itching has given me one last avenue to pursue.
I have been on armour for over 20 yrs, never had scalp itching
Hello, I have experienced similar situation. I have been on Armour for about 3 1/2 years and am suffering just recently with itchy scalp and neck and a bit on chest/back. I also get a pimple like rash and inflammation on my scalp and my hair has been excessively falling out. It has been horrible. I’m wondering too if it is the Armour?!?

If you've been on the Armour for a long time, it shouldn't be affecting you that way, but our bodies can change over time, so it's possible you've become sensitive to a filler/binder or dye in the medication. However, I'd be more inclined to think there's something else causing your problem. Itchy skin can be a symptom of hypothyroidism, so that's where I'd start...
If you can post your most recent thyroid hormone levels that will tell us whether or not your dose is adequate. Just as anything else, even though you've been on the same dose for years, your body could have changed and you may require a higher dose. Be sure to include reference ranges for any lab results you post, since ranges vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own report(s) for the best comparison.
It may seem worse when you lie down, because you're quiet (presumably trying to sleep) and that's when things, typically, bother us the most because we don't have other things keeping our mind occupied.
