Connection Between SIBO and Autoimmune Thyroid?

Is there any perceived connection between SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) and autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's/Graves)?

From my personal experience I seemed to have acquired both around a similar time, unsure truly of which came first exactly.

Hypothyroidism is a risk factor for SIBO due to altered gastrointestinal motility. One study found 27 out of the 50 patients with a history of hypothyroidism (54%) were positive for SIBO, compared to 5% of controls (2 of 40).

Wow..that is a pretty significant percentage.
I've also heard that some theorize that gut dysbiosis can lead to the triggering of autoimmunity (if genetically predisposed).

Very interesting...Thank you for your response Red_Star!
Yes, I've read that theory too. More research is needed.
