Synthroid - Thyroid

Hi,
I was taking synthroid 100 micrograms for about two and a half months, a little

before the 2 month mark I started to have joint pain, mostly in my ankles, shin

and feet. The first week I thought nothing of it because I was working out 3-4

times a week, and I thought maybe I just pulled something the wrong way.

After a week the pain worsened, and I called my endocrinologist, he said, joint

pain is NOT a side effect of synthroid. Another week passes, and the pain is

so bad I could not put weight on my right foot. I went to ER no broken bones,

blood was normal, and so was urine. I went to primary the next day, he tested

my blood and everything came back fine. I did research online about

synthroid, and I did find that people were having the same exact pain and

swelling that I was, I was so relieved other people were going through what I

was. I had my endo switch me to Armour thyroid, it's only been about a week

since I have been on new medication, and I still have joint pain and swelling.

•Has anyone had this experience with synthroid?
•And how long does it take for the swelling and joint pain to go away?

If you cannot go to the doctor before 6/25, you might call and ask them to mail you copies of test results from before and after starting Synthroid.  That way, you will better understand your status and be prepared to request what you need from the doctor rather than trying to review everything and have a meaningful discussion during the short appointment.

Rather than speculate on what is happening with you, I suggest that you get a copy of lab test results from before and after starting the Synthroid, so that we can better assess your status.  Doctors are required to provide copies of lab results upon your request.  Can you get those and post results and reference ranges?

Gimel, the dosage of Armour is 100 micrograms

also. And unfortunately I don't have the blood tests

results. He doesn't really go over them with me or

mention anything about T4. I am now only

becoming aware with the internet of the importance

of it. I am thinking its the synthroid that's causing

me pain because i never had anything like it before I

started taking it

I don't know that the joint pain you mention is a side effect of Synthroid as much as it can be associated with being hypothyroid still.  So, before further discussion, please post your blood test results from before and after starting on the Synthroid, so that we can see what tests were done and where the results fall within their reference ranges.

Also, what dosage of Armour?
