Help with Nodules Please!!!!

Hi I hope someone can help with ultra sound results.

On 5/01/09, the left thyroid lobe has normal measuring 4.5x1.4x1.3 cm. Small heterogeneous 7x5 mm upper lobe nodule.  Small 2mm cyst also in the upper lobe.  The isthmus has normal thickness.

The right thyroid has normal size measuring 5.1x1.8x1.7 cm.  In the right lower pole, there is a well circumscribed predominately cystic lesion measuring 2.2x1.2x1.6 cm.  It contains internal septations.  There is a small amount of flow along one of the sepations.

Impression: Predominately cystic right thyroid lower lesion with internal sepations.  A thyroid scan would likely show a photopenic nodule.  followup in 3 month to evaluate for stability.

So on 8/04/09, I had another ultra sound which said --- no change has occurred.  The left lobe measures 4.4x1.1x1.4 cm.  It contains two nodules.  The solid nodule measures 6.4x4.8x4.4 mm in the upper pole.  A 2 mm cyst is also identified in the upper pole of the lobe.   no new left lobe lesion seen.  The isthmus measures 1.6 mm.

The right lobe measures 5.0x2.2x1.7 cm.  It contains two heterogeneous nodules.  The smaller of the two measures 6x5 mm.  The larger of the two measures 2.4x1.3x1.6 cm and contains cystic and solid components.  It appear unchanged from prior exam and recommend continued 6- month followup to assure stability.

Well this is driving me crazy, I told my doctor that I am having trouble swallowing and he said that the nodules are to small be causing any problems.  Well something is because the reason I went to the doctor in the first place was due to shortness of breathe. I am a smoker(trying to quit) and 46 years old so I know the odds are against me.  I also have mono which was found in blood work while testing thyroid.  So I don't know which is acually causing me to be so tired. I guess I am double tired!!!! lol  I have been running a low grade fever for over a year.

My guess is this--- what do any of you guys think about my test results.  I don't know if I am reading them wrong but it looks like the large cyst did grow a little bit and there is a new one on the right side.

My doctor looked at me like I was crazy when I told him that I was having trouble swalling and when I get hot that it feels and looks larger on my right side.

Hi

Have you seen an ENT? They will do a scope to r/o compression caused by the nodule.  The tiny ones are way too small but the 2.4 is larger although they will say cannot cause these issues .... some here beg to differ based on personal exp.

Mine was almost 2.0 cm but didn't cause those issues.  I have a 4.0mm on the intact side of the gland and is stable/unchanged for 2 yrs now.

Thanks for answering. Not yet but I did fax my results to one and he is sending me to a gland doc in Sept. because he didn't like the size and composer of the larger one.
