I'm just lucky 'cause I have two Level 1 trauma centers here and a large medical school. Besides, once a good doctor graduates from here we hog-tie 'em and keep 'em!! (feeding them green Jello helps).
Do let us all know where you will be moving to so we can put on our collective tinfoil hats and find you a real endo and a real hospital.
Stay well
Thanks for messages--I know what you mean about the fries. I was afraid to take anything because I was thinking if my TSH goes up--I might over medicate my heart and pass out--I thought I would ride the wave. I take 2mg of Ativan at night--and it helps some. I'm not sure this was the best approach. I wish the ER here was like yours--I think they charge you--they even want money up front--I told the lady I have insurance and she can bill it first--
Not sure if it will be Oklahoma City or not--we just moved to the southern part of OK around Thanksgiving.
Not liking OK so much--ER is really odd here. I can't believe they only do TSH and T4.
In AL, I went to an emergency care clinic and had a full thyroid panel done during the visit.
There is no emergency care here either:(
I feel like I moved to hillbilly land.
I'm sorry if I offended in Okies out there.
AL may be backwards--but it is sort of forwards--if you get what I mean.
I should move to California--
Somewhere not cold.
If you know what city you are moving to, it would be a good idea to make an appt. with an endo now instead of waiting til you get there. Sometimes it takes a couple of months to make an appt with one.
Didn't they give you anything for the palpitations?? Was your blood pressure high?? Your TSH is so low, I wouldn't be surprised if you are on the doorstep of thyroid storm. I had to be put on beta blockers for about 2 months until my TSH came back up (and go off my meds for a week then start with a much lower dose).
I don't know how your ER works there but around here if you call or visit them for a followup within 48 hours there is no additional charge, Might want to check into that if the palpitations don't settle down. If you do call back or have to go back have them give you something to settle your heart down (like the beta blockers or Methimazole).
I'm hoping that you get a city with a very good selection of endos!
I hope you can get a great job too - my degrees are in psychology, communications, and public administration and that qualifies me to ask if they want fries with their hamburgers. :-)
Thank you, stella and Jessi--and AR. My dr. said to take half a pill for some days and then a whole one on others--I think I'm going to go without for about six days. My chest hurts too much to take half.
I did go regularly to the dr., but I try not to go to the ER. Jessi, my husband says that about th e turnip too--so funny.
I'm not on a good laptop so I might lose this all--
Anyway--thanks for responding.
I'm sorry your neck hurts, Stella and that the prednisone made you fluffy--it tends to do that.
I would write more, but I don't have a stable connection--dinosaur laptop.
I have to find a way to read about merit tests so I can get my state tests in before I move--just got my letters from office of personnel management. My degrees are in poli sci and public administration so I hope I can get a decent job--with state insurance--:)
Glad to see you went to ER anyway. The bills will get paid when they get paid. They can't get blood from a turnip as my mom always says. LOL Hope there is an endo in the area you are moving to.
I agree with AR though. Check out the medicine ordeal.
I am happy about the move for you - I got your message. Let's keep talking about it .
Are you seeing a regular doctor at all?
You are Hyper, even though your T4 shows normal (high normal?).
You're not still taking your regular dose of Levothyroxine, are you?
Is there a GP you can see that would look at your test results and write a scrip for Methimazole or give you some guidance on cutting back on your Levothyroxine if you're still taking it?
Hope you get some relief soon. Going months on end with chest pains is not good.
