Enlarged thyroid mystery

Hi,
I had an enlarged thyroid protruding from my throat for over a year, thyroid size 5.5 x3.3,.  I started taking Synthroid 2 weeks ago, but due to harsh symptoms, I stopped Tuesday.

Well this morning I wake up, and felt my throat, my swollen thyroid has practically disappeared overnight.  It went from softball size to a marble.  Amazing !!  No neck stiffness !!

Now I'm wondering if Synthroid was actually beginning to work.  Even though my TSH level was normal.

Hmmm, this is a real mystery.  I'm super happy my thryoid swelling is starting to reduce in size.  But also wondering what caused it to reduce in size.

I drank a 16oz cup of Prune juice last night, and had a major bowel movement, I was constipated & bloated for weeks, it could have been the prune juice.

This is going to really baffle my Endo.  Just thought I'd share.

Hi,
Thanks for reply.  I keep a symptoms list on my tracker.  I was only on synthroid for 2 weeks.  Endo said, thyroid reduction would start in a few weeks, but then again it could have been the synthroid.  Just have to patiently wait till next month, and go from there.

What sort of symptoms are you referring to with the Synthroid? It is more than likey to  have been the  Synthroid which helped shrink the goitre. You might find though that the goitre will return in a while. Ask your doctor to try you on a different form of thyroid replacement, and this will keep your goitre at bay for many years to come.
Cheers.
