Here's my labs, ultrasound...
Labs drawn 10/2/09
Free T4:1.06
TSH: 2.45
US done 1/22/10 due to thyroid enlargment...
HISTORY:
Neck swelling.
THYROID ULTRASOUND:
Thyroid gland is well seen and the right lobe measures 4.8 cm in
length x 1.8 x 1.7 cm in cross-section. The left lobe measures 5 cm
in length x 1.6 x 1.7 cm in cross-section. The isthmus is 4 mm in AP
dimension.
On the right, there is a well-defined, simple, 1.2-cm nodule just
slightly hyperechoic, compared to the adjacent thyroid parenchyma.
Doppler images indicate that it is hypovascular. The remainder of
the right lobe and isthmus are normal.
On the left, there is similar, slightly hyperechoic nodule in the
lower pole of the gland and this measures 8 mm in size. As
indicated, it is hypovascular. In addition, there is a slightly
hypoechoic mass in the mid portion of the left lobe. This lesion
measures 1.4 cm in maximum dimension and it is hypervascular. A
third, smaller, 7-mm nodule is also present in the mid portion of the
left thyroid lobe and it as well is hypervascular. No significant
cervical lymph nodes are appreciated.
IMPRESSION:
1. BILATERAL MIXED MORPHOLOGY THYROID NODULES, SOME HYPERVASCULAR
AND OTHERS HYPOVASCULAR. IT MAY BE PRUDENT TO PERFORM
ULTRASOUND-GUIDED NEEDLE ASPIRATION BIOPSY OF THE HYPERVASCULAR
LESIONS SEEN IN BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT LOBES

Is there any chance it could still be Hashimoto's? Autoimmune diseases are actually prevalent in my family, but I have tested negative so far....but haven't been to any specialists yet. But will be in a few days. Thanks in advance for any tips!
