High Anti-Thyroglobulin ABS

I am 40 years old and was diagnosed with papillary carsinoma thyroid cancer 6 years ago and went through a total thyroid ectomy and iodine radiation. My thyroglobulin levels went from 1600 prior to surgery to almost zero and it stayed low until a few months ago. My last lab results indicates an Anti-Thyroglobulin ABS of 900. My doctor is recommending a body scan and I'm scheduled to do this next week. What I'd like to know is what could this high Anti-Thyroglobulin ABS possibly mean and if it boils down to undergoing chemotherapy, is ther an alternative.

Thanks for your response.

yes, I agree with PP .. you need to have the scan to see where it may be recurred ... Please let us know how you make out .. we are here for you as many on this community have gone through where you are now and are doing very well.

Rising Throglobulin antibodies could mean a recurrence of papilary cancer in which case radioactive iodine is the treatment of choice.

This happened to me last year and I repeated the I131 therapy sucessfully.

Good luck.
