How much longer should I wait...for Results

Anyone know how long it usually takes to get the results of a thyroid Ultra Sound? I had it done nov.25 but they never called me back, which I assume means everything is good? They told me at the follow-up appt on Dec. 2 that the results weren't in yet and that since the blood test came back normal they don't suspect anything wrong but they would call me if they saw anything that was suspicious.  They never called me back, but the symptoms are still there. I called the office in the middle of December to make sure that everything was normal, but the receptionist said she had no idea what I was talking about and that I should call when the office re-opens after xmas break on jan 3 if I wanted to know.  I called yesterday and today and they're not answering the phones. Seems to me like they're playing games. What should my next step be???? I don't want to go to another doctor because I didn't have a good experience with this ultra sound and dont want to have to take another one. Plus my next appointment with this doctor is January 28, but the thing is I don't want to wait that long.

You can also get a cd of images from your US if you are in the U.S.A.   I would suggest getting that also if you switch doctors, the new doctor will want to see the images

The key is that they told you they would call if they saw anything "suspicious"....... they have the results and many doctors don't think it's necessary to call their patients unless there is something drastic going on.

When I was diagnosed, I went for the lab work, but didn't have an appt to see my doctor until 3 weeks later.  They made me wait until my appt, despite the fact that my TSH was up to 55+ and FT4 very low.  I could actually have gotten started on med 3 weeks sooner than I did..... probably wouldn't have mattered with that doctor because he kept me ill for almost a year anyway, but I'd have been 3 weeks ahead of the game, if they'd have called me.

gimel is right - they are obligated to give you a copy, if you are in the US, so I'd go there and ask for one.  In addition, if this is the way they are going to treat you, you might want to start looking for another doctor.

Assuming that you are in the US, the doctor is required by Federal law to provide you a copy of your lab test results upon your request.  If it is possible I would go to the office and tell them you want a copy of the lab reports for your thyroid tests and also the ultrasound test.  If they resist, then remind them of the law and wait until you get a copy.  Then post results and reference ranges and any symptoms you are having that may be related to thyroid, and let members help interpret and advise further.
