TSH normal Antibodies very high

Have just undergone some blood tests that have shown TSH levels borderline but high TPO Antibodies >600. Can anyone help me as my Dr just keeps telling me I am borderline.  My father was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism in his early 40's - should I be pusing the GP more to diagnose ?

If you have thyroid antibodies, it's just a matter of time before you are hypo (if you're not already).  Positive antibodies means Hashimoto's.  I've read that taking 200mcg of Selenium daily can help some people lower their antibodies.  I'm sure you can google it for more information.  It sure doesn't hurt to try it out; it's cheap and easily found at your local pharmacy or Wal-Mart.

Can anyone give me some guidance on these results, I am being told all the time by my GP that the results are borederline, however father has Hyperthyroidsim and has had for 23 years, I have today received a referral letter to see an Endo so obviously something is not quite right but I just don't know enough to know what, GP a little evasive when I ask.
TSH 7.2
FT4 13.5
Thyroid Peroxidase >600
Have got a full bloods sheet but not even sure what I should be looking for or what all the abbreviations on the bloods sheet mean?
Help please

I think you have me and Mary56 confused somewhat. These are my blood test results:
TSH 7.2
FT4 13.5
Thyroid Peroxidae >600
(can't read any of the others on the form as I was tested for my kidney function too)

Can I still have hashimoto's and have a normal TSH and be treated?  I am going to a specialist at the end of this month.

Your TSH looks great - I don't see how your MD is stated you are borderline. Your other blood results do show antibody issues.

It probably would be good to as for a referral to an endo's office. I think you will get better answers there.

Further to the thyroid antibodies I have recently been diagnosed with CRF (Chronic Renal Failure) and Bi-lateral cortical scarring . I was referred to a Nephrologist in November 2007 who has advised me it was caused by Pyelonephritis but could this be as a result of some sort of auto-immune disorder, like Hashi?

Thyroglobulin AB  161
TPO 30
TSH  1.31
FT3  2.7
FT4  1.2
I have the following symptoms, Sensitivity to cold, joint pain, back and hip pain, hoarsness in voice, especially after prolonged talking, severe fatigue, muscle weakness, bowel problems, red gritty eyes, not relieved by drops.  I actually started with hyper symptoms and now have these symptoms, My MD thinks I went Hyper and now am hypo even with the normal Thyroid.  I do not know what to think.  It is really getting to me.

Sounds like you have Hashimotos and you should be seeing an Endo not just a GP.  Please post your test results from the blood tests you have had and any symptoms you have.  I am sure the Vets on this board can offer some great advise once your numbers are posted. Hope you feel great soon.

I have a similar problem. My TSH is somewhat normal, but both TPO and  TGAB both very elevated. My Md's are saying that something is attacking my thyroid.  They tell me autoimmune diseases can do that. I am in the process of testing.  It is very hard to get a MD to comment or make a diagnosis when TSH is normal.  How do you feel?
