Hi. My last labs January 2010 were: TSH 0.6 (range 0.4-4.5); T4, Free 1.1 (range 0.8-1.8); T3, Total 100 (Range 76-181). I was starting to feel well after 9 months of trying to find a doc to treat my Hypo, which during treatment TSH was up to 4.7, and endo left me hanging symptomatic at 2.7 TSH. My Levoxyl dose was raised from 125 mcg to 137 to 150 to finally 175 mcg. I was on 175 mcg for 4 weeks when I got the labs in January.
Anyway, one month after my last labs, HYPER symptoms crept up: insomnia, anxiety, low sex drive, irritability, diarrhea. I wasn't able to get blood work (bedrest after foot surgery) until last week; should have results soon. I tried going down to 163 mcg (combining 75 mcg and 88 mcg pills), skipped a few days, took 75 mcg a couple times, and now am taking 150 mcg because the anxiety is unbearable .I'm thinking after a while on the 150 mcg (which previously kept me at 2.7 TSH with hypo symptoms) I can again try to go up to 163 mcg. The jump before from 150 to 175 was too big.
Wondering: How long does it take to come down after getting HYPER. If my TSH was .6 in January, by february when I started feeling awful it must have been lower. Is there a recommended method? I was too afraid to hang at the 163 mcg dose because I felt so crappy, but maybe it takes a month to "even out"? Anybody else have this problem? Any suggestions for coming down from too high of a dose? I'm afraid my skipping, etc. may be the wrong way.
Thanks!
