Labs

I'm trying to help my mom. She has a great deal of back pain and other pains that move. Her pain specialist is testing her for lupus and fibromyalgia. Her hair is thinning and the last third of her eyebrows are SPARSE. She's got brain fog and her mental capacity seems challenged. My mom has historically been very "with it" with regards to mental function. It's alarming to see her genuinely being ditzy. She's gained about 10 pounds this year and her blood pressure (though currently in the normal range) has been alarmingly high at times - so high there have been a couple of ER visits. In researching thyroid ailments, I started to find her symptoms in the lists. She's had some testing done, but it is all in the "normal" range. From what I understand, normal and optimal aren't always in agreement. Her results are as follows:

02/01/2008:
TSH: 1.75 (0.35-5.50)
FT4: 1.11 (2.3-4.2)
FT3: 3.0 (2.3-4.2)

12/20/2007:
T3: 368 (230-420) - only lab taken of the three
TPO: 63 (>35)

Thanks for any input you may have!

Thanks. I've ordered her a test for the saliva cortisol - an all day test. I know the adrenals can effect the thyroid, but could it effect her thyroid enough for the last third of her to eyebrows virtually be missing? I've only seen that as a symptom of hypot, but I would have thought her labs would be more questionable. I'm still new at trying to figure these things out, so I didn't want to trust the "normal" that I've heard so much about in forums.

Thanks again for your input!!!!

Has she had her adrenals checked?  If not, have them checked.  Blood test for DHEA, cortisol, Vit D , B12 and full metabolic panel.  The all day saliva tests has better results, but is usually done by a naturopath.  She may be deficient in any of these areas.
