Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies

In the past two years I've had three blood tests only because I do not feel right, ie:weight gain, constant fatigue, hair loss, leg cramps, swollen legs at end of day and asked my doctor to check my thyroid. TSH levels were within normal range and tpo came back at 95.  B12 was also low.  My doctor dismissed my concerns and asked my if anyone in my family has ever had Hashimoto's.  Sometimes I feel that you have to be your own doctor.  So I told him no but what does that have anything to do with it.  I've had epilepsy and asthma and no one in my family has.  I decided to go see an endo.  I still have to go for blood work.  Like I said before, the last three tests came back with a tpo over 90 and normal tsh levels. Could have a slightly elevated tpo be normal??? Please help, I feel like I'm at a dead end.  The endo that I saw yesterday gave me some diets to follow and he said that I must exercise in order to lose weigh. I felt like laughing at him.  If I had the strength to be consistant with working out I would but I feel more tired after a work out. I know that there is something wrong with me and I don't want there to be, I just want to find out what.

Elevated TPOab is indicative of Hashi's.

Your FT4 is on the low side.  Many of us find that FT4 has to be midrange (1.3 in your case) before hypo symptoms are relieved.

Total T3 is considered an obsolete test.  FREE T3 is much more useful in evaluating thyroid status.  That being said, your TT3 is very low.

About ten years ago, AACE recommended that TSH range be changed to 0.3-3.0.  With that range, your TSH is high, also indicating hypo.

You have hypo symptoms, so you should be treated.

You should probably look for a doctor who will treat you clinically to relieve your symptoms.  That can be a bit of a challenge.  We maintain a list of doctors recommended by forum members.  There's one in Ft. Lauderdale.  If that's not too far to go, I'll PM you his name and number.

Please post the ranges on those tests.  Ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report.  A good way to do that is to post test, result (reference range).  For example:

FT4 1.1 (0.8-1.8)
