Hi,
This is my first time posting on this website. I'm living overseas and the medical community where I am is really no good, they don't seem to understand me and I honestly think that they are not that competent. I really need help with my thyroid labs. A little background on me, I'm a 21 y/o female, and last January I had a TT and was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. I took the RAI in March of 2009, but received a very low dose, the dr told me I might be fine with just one treatment once a year. Also, I'm on 200mcg of Synthroid.
The symptoms that I'm showing:
1. leg cramps- this has been for a year, off and on (I started to have leg cramps immediately after my surgery, like hours after wards. I'm just convinced that it has something to do with that because I never had cramps in my legs before)
2. Fatigue--ALWAYS tired...right after I wake up, take a shower I'm tired!
3. Burning/tingling sensation throughout my body--this is a new symptom, it has started for about a month. It will go, leave for about two weeks, and suddenly reappear. It started in my legs, than started to gradually creep up to my body. Sometimes I feel little spots on my body, like my thigh or my side that feels like its burning. Sometimes I feel my mouth is slightly tingling. Sometimes I feel like its stress because whenever I feel stressed I feel the burning creeping throughout my body. But I don't know, I'm just an anxious person.
4. Sweaty palms
5. Something really weird but on my left foot, half of my left foot is numb..well it feels like it went to sleep, but its 24/7. I still feel sensation though. At first I thought it was Diabetes but that was ruled out.
Okay now my lab results from last month:
Thyroxine- 10.7 ug/dl (4.5-12.5 range)
TSH- <0.004 mIU/L (0.4-5 range)
PTH- 34 ng/l (15-65 range)
Thyroglobulin -<0.2 ug/l (1,5-35 range)
Calcium; 8.8-10
For comparing/contrasting here are my other lab results from a couple months ago
TSH- 0.06 (0.4-4.8)
Calcium-PTH; 9.9 (8.5-10.5)
Intact PTH- 73 (11-67)
Vitamin D- 37.9 (30-100)
Thyroglobulin <0.1
Thyroglobulin; 270 % Recovery 70
Free T3 -3.5 (2.4-4.2)
Free T4- 1.5 (0.6-1.6)
The doctors here think that its just my PTH and that mybe I should lower my dosage from 200 to 100, and that being hyper is causing all these problems but I was told that I need 200 for suppression.I emailed my surgeon and he doesn't think its the synthroid and I faxed all my reports to my endo but I have yet to hear from him. Also, I stopped my vitamin d supplements and my sister said that that might be it... low vitamin d. I just don't know, can someone please advise me??? Sorry for such a long post
