partial thyroidectomy for Hyper... now it's Hypo....

I had a partial thyroidectomy where the Isthmus & multinodules were removed, I had Hyperthyroidism & I continued taking Methimazole to help lower the thyroid levels, now after 6 mos. I had labs done & my thyroid is too low so I was told to discontinue Methimazole, they will run more labs in a month to check levels again. Dr I feel so severely fatigued I find every daily activity a big struggle, even bathing... I am also finding it hard to breath, I feel top heavy around my chest & neck & excruciating headaches! I know Dr's say my thyroid will die off on it's own then they will put me on meds for life, BUT my question is... "what do I do in the meantime?" can I, should I start taking metabolism enhancers that are natural? I have researched about the types of foods I can eat to stimulate the harmones like adequate protein, fruit, salt (non iodine) & cooking with cocunut oil. but for the past few days I feel extremely exhausted, freezing from hands & feet, dizzy, actually somewhat incoherant which is deep to say but I feel as if I'm going to blow up. Do you have any suggestions for me Dr?

sry I forgot to mention I had the Isthmus removed, the right & left of thyroid is still in tact, only a matter of time the rest of the thyroid is or was to stop working on it's own & surgeon as well as Endo. said it could could be anytime up to 2 yrs... so I guess I had to stop the meds that lower it & now that I discontinued taking the med. Endo. is seeing if it will normalize???
