timing of synthroid meds

Just started synthroid last week.
These past 2 days I've noticed some acid reflux, although that is not listed as a side effect
I do take medication for acid reflux.
They told me to make sure I took the synthroid on its own without food for up to 1 hour.
Is this really important to do? Because taking meds without food might be causing the reflux I think. Will it change the way synthroid works if I take it with food?
Thanks!

Are you sure you're taking it with enough clear water?  It needs to be chased down with a full glass.

As said above, take it on an empty stomach.  If you take it with food, the food will absorb it before your system has a chance to, hence nullifying it.

Good luck.

I suffer from acid reflux also, but you need to take the synthroid as directed for maximum absorption.

NO take it on empty stomach. If your acid persists, maybe try something else, unfortunately I to have this problem. But I can deal. It will take some time for your body to adjust. So just make sure you talk to your doctor.
