Hashis, CRP, autoimmune rollercoaster...

Hi everyone, I hope all is bearable with you all.. I have a question.. and I am very worried... I have Hashis, as well as hypothyroid... I just had a blood test CRP High sensitivity... which came back high.. at 6.1.  The norm being 1.0 or less... I undestand that due to the Hashi's.. I am going to have inflammation throuhgout my body.. but.. I am kind of at the point where I am considering just having my thyroid irradiated... because isnt the inflammation bad for your heart.. arteries.. ect ect??  i have been walking around with hashis for years.. and this is the first HS CRP test i have had.. I had a regular CRP in may.. and it was at 3.4.. with a norm value of anything below 8.0.  But now. with this new test... I am really freaked out.. if there is anyone out there who is going through this.. or has.. or anything.. any advice would be great.!! i am 40, cholesterol is 178.. LDL is almost normal. and HDL is a few points off normal.  my TSH is 4.0, i have not had my antibodies checked for some time... should I ? My cardiologist wants to see me due to the HS CRP result... they didnt seem overly concerned though.... i bet its due to the Hashi's.. anyway.. if you have any advice.. i would greatly appreciate it..

Well..I had my heart saver ct scan today ... as suggested by my cardiologist... due to the high rate of inflammation in my body... I am fine.. my calcium score is 0.. so.. i am happpy about that... now.. i really need to start thinking about whether or not to just havemy thyroid irradiated.. would this stop the Hashi's? i know that I would be on thyroid meds for the rest of my life.. thats fine.. my mother.. grandmother.. ect ect... did the same as well.. with no probs..  but the hashi's is really causing so many other problems.. has anyone had their thyroid taken out due to Hashi's?  Laura.. thankyou for the advice.. i will ask my doc about that...

You might be a good candidate for the new T4 med Tirosint. I switched over to it myself and I am doing great! No more fogginess after taking my meds. It is considered pretty hypoallergenic without all the fillers the other meds have in them.
Another thing to consider is if you are having conversion issues as well to add to the problem which can cause anxiety as well.  :)

you are right.. i need to get it to that level... however.. being so sensitive to all medications.. i turn into a squirrel on meth when my level gets under 2.0. i have massive panic attacks.. and totally freak out... and i dont want to go back on anti anxiety meds that made other things worse.. i keep thinking its something to do with the formulation of the thyroid pill i am taking.. im so confused.

With Hashimoto's you should have your TSH between .50-1.0 in order for your body to heal, and the inflammation to go down. If you are kept hypo as you are, the inflammation will only get worse. What was your most recent free t4 result?
I had all kinds of cardiac issues until I found an endo who understood hashi's and how to get levels optimal for a hashi patient, and not just in the normal range.

TSH should be under 3.0 now (new standards) You probably need you thyroid replacement increased slightly? You should also be tracking the available thyroid hormones on a regular basis (FREE t3 and FREE t4) I would also have your antibodies tested again since you are not feeling well. Some with Hashi. report feeling better when they reduce greatly or elliminate all together Gluten from diet. No science on this though.Never hurts to give it a trial run though. My daughter (10) was born without a thyroid and she does much better when we limit gluten and sugar and eat higher protein and lower carb diet. Gluten causes fungal buildup for sure in gut and Hypo. people have issues with this due to slow metabolism rate/elimination/gut.
