why are only some symptoms gone

i apologise if this has already been asked but i didn't find it any where on here. i have been on Synthoid for about a year and a half now and at first my dossage was to high. i could hardly sleep at night but i got onto the right dosage with about 2 months. for the longest time i just asumed that everything was good because my doctors told me my blood tests were good and i could sleep and i wasn't cold all the time, but recently i've been looking into hypothyroidism side effects and things and i'm noticing things that i never thought would be caused by that. i notice most of all that i am hot most of the time in the summer, but as soon as the weather changes in the fall i'm not so bad. how ever, looking back on the last year and a half, and on the 21 years before that, i am a much more irritable person, i get depressed randomly and extremely angry or frustrated almost every day .i do randomly get rache's witch doesn't bother me a whole lot except that combined with these other things, it feels like synthroid is working really well to get rid of some symptoms and apparently put the right level of hormones in my system, but there are still other symptoms of hypothyroidism that are effecting me.

i'm 22 6'1 195 pounds taking synthoid 175mcg
i should also note that when i was 19 i was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, it was removed promtly and did not metastasize, they checked a larger excision and a lymphnode. after that i want a preventative treatment of interferon for almost one year, i can not remember the doses. about a month before the scheduled time i was supposed to stop my doctor pulled me off because of my liver. they monitor it frequently and it was getting to inflamed. after i stopped the interferon my liver got worse and after seeing an internalist, he found out that my thyroid was not only bad but not working all together, my TSH results were around 300. once i started on synthroid my liver inflamation went away, witch i was very happy about because i was 3 days away from a liver biopsy.

now that i've rambled on forever and you have way to much background info, i would love to hear some feedback

For starters you question is very common, but not this week.

Lab ranges are just averages for the average person, we all feel better in one area.

1)Please post last thyroid labs with ranges (they vary) and you will get more help / opinions. This IS the starting point.

2)I can only assume you have been on one brand of thyroid med. There are several brands and different types as well, this is new to new people here. Some work better than others for individuals. There are resons but wont go that far yet.

"there are still other symptoms of hypothyroidism that are effecting me" - like what? We need to know to help.

Hot can be from hypo or hyper, some think just hyper, wrong, wrong, wrong.

Hello, I have hypothyroid.  Ive had it for 17 years and on synthroid all 17 years.  My synthroid has ranged from 112mcg's to 75mcgs, to 88mcgs and so on and so on.  I take it faithfully every morning on an empty stomach and I have been stressing this to everyone.  An empty stomach with a full glass of water helps!  People take it with food and I can tell you now, my body is extremely senstive.  I know when my levels are high, and when they are low.  If I ever eat, less than an hour after I take it, I start to experience side effects.  No matter how normal your levels are, you will still experience some side effect because you have the disease.  Right now my TSH is at 0.35 and the normal is 0.35-5.60.  It is still within normal range, but I can feel more side effects because I need to be at a happy medium.  Because of this, my doctor has me alternating between 0.75 mcg and 0.88mcg.  one day 75, the next day 88 and so on.  I found this to be helpful.  Also, because my body is so sensitive, I get bloodwork every three months.  Exercise and rest helps as well.  I have insomnia because of they hypothyroid.  I have to take sleep aids or I will go absolutely nuts with no rest.  Depression and anxiety is a big one.  As I get older, I learned that my depression and anxiety has increased.  If I skip, I cry uncontrollably.  I hide and do this because I know that its due to my skipping my dose.  While my levels are normal, I still experience a little depression and anxiety, but not like I do when I forget a dose.  Please ask any questions, I hope I can help.

I agree with LazyMoose; it would be most helpful if you would post your most recent labs, along with the lab's reference ranges, since these are lab specific.

It's possible that your levels just aren't right for YOU, yet, even if they do fall within the lab's reference ranges.

My insomnia was worst on a T4 med only, regardless of brand. This is not totally out of the ordinary some some on it, even if they go by free T3 , Free T4 and not just TSH.

High anxiety can be from thyroid levels that are not optimum for you. Frees to high or to low can do this. But I think to some extent we all are a little more prone to having it. Its possible to make it better, unless its from work LOL!

T3 in dessicated helps many (myself included) people sleep.

Magnesium citrate and valerian root also helps.
