Daughters TT was a sucess :- )

Just here to update everybody. My daughters TT was done on Feb 15th. Surgery lasted about two hours and she stayed overnight in the hospital and came home the next day. Her parathyroid is  intact and her lowest calcium level was at 8.4 following surgery and by the time she was released from the hospital her level was at 9.0. Other then just having the syptoms of her body being shocked from going through the surgery she has recouped very well. She started the Synthroid 75 MCG on Sunday at home and only took pain meds for a couple days usually in the evening before bed. She had her post-op yesterday and the Dr tested her calcium, It was 9.3. She seems to be completely back to normal at this point and is eating anything and everything with no problems. Her voice, Never stopped talking Lol!!! She was talking right after she awoke from the procedure although lower then her norm but not raspy or anything. She did say that it felt like the worse sore throat that she has ever had but you could not tell at all. Other then now being without a thyroid and the lower voice she experienced allot of cramping in her back following surgery but with pain meds and walking around the short stay unit that gradually decreased and she is not complaining of any cramping at all now. I am truly amazed at how well she has recouped from all of what she went through. Wow!!!!  :- )
Oh and we are awaiting the biopsy results from the large 9CM mass that that she did have on her thyroid.

TERRIFIC -- I can't imagine this for a child. She's a trooper - most adults won't bounce back like that !!

I am keeping this post saved - so she will be my hero when this all gets set up for me.

Hugs!!

GREAT NEWS and thanks so so much for the update .. 9cm's .. that is huge!  Pls. let us know when you get the biopsy results.  Usually the sore throat is from the tube and not the actual surgery .. they say that can be the worst part!

You and me both!!!! I am truly amazed and she is not even taking any Calcium supplement either. Dr said that so far she will not be needing anything other then a multi-vitamin along with her once a day dose of Synthroid.
