OUT OF CLEAR BLUE: Had sudden onset 7/9/2009 of pain left side of neck/swelling/dentist said not teeth, go to Dr-        diagnosed in ER as thyroid goiter via Cat Scan.
Had two biopsies with thin needle aspiration on outpatient basis. First inconclusive, results of second one not in.
Still have Large mass/sac?? on left side of thyroid, hard to swallow, breathing some difficulty, left side of voice box "paralyzed", drool at night when in bed sleeping unless elevate head
TSH     = 2.91             Normal range = 0.10-5.50 uIU/mL
T4 FREE  =1.0             Normal range = 0.8-1.7 ng/dL
TRIIODOTHYRONINE - TRUE,SER/PLAS,QN  = 145  Normal range = 70-200 ng/dL
APTT   = 26.2             Normal range = 23.1-32.8 Sec
PT      =     9.8             Normal range = 8.2-10.6 Sec
PT INR =   1.0    What is normal range????
LDH     =   458   Normal range = 120-230 U/L
TPO AB = 576  Normal range = <35-  IU/mL

White blood count normal

Have NO family history of thyroid problems or cancer or lymphoma.

Next Monday 7/27/2009 will get:    cat scan of chest (rule out spread of lymphoma?)
                                                   temporary tracheotomy so can breathe easier until diagnosed and treated
                                                   cut open left side of neck to further examine and get tissue for biopsy.

What other tests should I get BEFORE the surgery?
Am I being "treated"/diagnosed properly?
What do I have?

Ok, I am VERY worried........   please help.
Need more information?
Want to talk on phone?
HELP! PLEASE!

Are you on Warfarin  or any anti-coagulant drugs?

The PT INR range should be 2.0 to 3.0 usually but if on anticoagulant meds...a fraction higher.

Some substances you consume, such as alcohol, can affect the PT/INR test. Some antibiotics can increase the PT/INR. Barbiturates and vitamin K - either in a multivitamin or liquid nutrition supplement - can decrease PT.
Certain foods (such as beef and pork liver, green tea, broccoli, chickpeas, kale, turnip greens, and soybean products) contain large amounts of vitamin K and can alter PT results.
The vitamins you are taking could be the cause of your PT INR being a fraction low.

I dont know why you are having a temporary tracheotomy when oxygen (via mask) can also give the same effect and relief.
Even though you have arotic stenosis, this would not warrant a tracheotomy not unless the calcification in the valve has really thickened the valve.
This condition in itself causes shortness of breath.

When was this checked last by a Cardiologist?

I'd say to find an excellent endocrinologist and take it from there. The doc will base everything on your scans and biopsy results. They may recommend surgery, but once again, depending on the physical appearance and the test results. Try to relax and research (alot)....

Sounds scary what's going on with you. That's a lot of stuff you are going to go through Monday. I don't have any answers for you but there are a lot of people on here who can give you their expertise. The right people just have to log in & see your question.
I can tell you your TPo is high, which probably means Hashimoto's...an auto immune thyroid condition. But that's all I can tell you. I;m no good with labs...lol. Sorry. As you read around on here you'll see a lot of info on Hashi's.
