Congenital Hypothyroidism Patient @ 3 Years of age

Hi All, My daughter was born on Jan 16th 2013 and she was diagnosed with Congenital Hypothyroidism after 8 weeks. Since then we are giving Levo thyroxine every day. Now my daughter is doing great. But just wanted to know do I need to pay attention to any specific kind of activities so that she grows well.

She is recognizing all colors. She learned all letters and numbers.

I am planning to start Swimming classes for once she turns 4. Please do advise me if you are executing.

Regards.

What is her daily dosage of T4 med?  What is the reference range shown on the lab report for Free T4?

Note that since Free T3 has been shown to correlate best with hypo symptoms, I highly recommend that she be tested for both Free T4 and free T3 each time she goes in for tests.

Hi Gimel,

Her latest TSH is 1.24 and free T4 is 1.74. These results were latest as of July 10 2015.

Please understand that we are not doctors here, only people with thyroid problems that we have overcome by learning about the testing and treatment needed to feel well again.  As part of our experience we have learned a great deal about hypothyroidism and are able to offer that information to others.

The first thing we usually want to know about is any symptoms the patient is having.  With your daughter being so young that may be difficult to assess.  So in the absence of those, please post her thyroid related test results so that we can assess the adequacy of her med and dosage as best possible.

As far as any special activities so that she grows well, I think that is best answered by her doctor.
