On what basis did the doctor decide you are now hyper?
Pain is still lingering but much better.. TSH .10 FT4 1.4 I'm nervous, loose stools, 92 pulse. He wants to get me back down to where I felt good before all this hypo happened which was 125 mcgs of levo vs 150 mgs. I was reduced to 137 mcgs Tuesday.
I felt good with my TSH at 0.26 for six months FT4 1.3 he thinks this is keeping my pain going. He pushed my meds a bit more then he wanted when I went hypo trying to bring me out of the inflammation because I was so bad. The worse is my stomach now. I've had heartburn with hypo seems cramping with hyper. I'm not 100% it's the motrin I have no burning.
I read out on the web serve stomach pain can be caused by hyper kind of a toxic reaction?
That much Motrin per day can give you stomach pain and or ulcers. Been there in the past. So, that might be it?
Or-
If you have too much acid from hyper it will show on saliva PH strips - avail at health food stores.
I used to blame every symptom I had on the THYROID.
Dont fall in the same trap as I did.
Eliminate symptoms one by one....most times he thyroid isnt to blame.
Let us know how it goes.
You could have an ulcer, appendicitis, fallopian tube infection etc and the list goes on.......
Rule the thyroid out first then one by one, rule out everything else.
wait...the word "attack" was in the initial post. is there a pattern? is it associated with menstrual cycle or specific foods? if it occurs every single time you eat something, that's quite different than an attack.
when I hear the word attack I think of Gall Bladder. of course, that may just be due to my own family history and experiences. although I had a problem with it, I barely had any "attacks" compared to others in the family.
overall, I'm thinking something other than Thyroid with this specific problem. food allergy or celiac pops into my mind. of course, it could be as simple as the Motrin caused huge problems with the stomach lining and now it's rebelling to everything.
I see know Free t3 test here.
It sounds like you understand Alkaline and PH levels and hats off to you for knowing how those meds can destroy the healthy acid we need, Taking those meds will bring on the abnormal stools - so you can not even base that symptoms with a guess on hyperthyroid causing it.
I was in the same catch 22 to a degree when I was undermedicated.
I would have a gall bladder test done and some GI tests also just to make sure things are OK - but I seriously would like to know what meds you are regularly taking - what the dx was for taking them and if you have changed any eating patterns or supplements.
Thanks everyone for you thoughts and comments. I still hanging in there trying not to go to the hospital for a number of reasons. I did better yesterday by eating small protons. I really think it has to do with gas building up maybe not digesting property. Last night I woke at 2 am with bloating I could feel the gas building up under my rib cage and back reminds me when I have had laproscopic surgery and the effects from gas. This was the first time it didn't build in my actual stomach. These attacks have been hitting my actual stomach itself I know it's not lower.
I took four gas x and sat up in bed for a hour made me sick again to. I'm going to try and ride this out just a bit longer our doctors here in our local hospital are iffy to say the least.
I do have PH strips so I will see what is happening there. Gallbladder is gone long ago. I'll read up on Celiac. FT3 was 319.
Yes, know about the Alkaline and Acidic levels had to learn all that when I took my Specialist training for IV's. I've stopped all vitimans for now to. Hmmm.. Maybe gastric ulcers cause's gas? My GP isn't in till Monday. If I can't continue to control these attacks by what I eat I will have to go to ER.
You guys have been great as always! Thank you
OOPS! Error's above~ I'm/Portions I guess I should proof read more
That is a TON of medicine. Are you able to get something not as hard on your stomache such as mobic?
I have never had stomach cramps with either Hyper or Hypo if thats any consolation...and I was hyper for many years before diagnosis.
Found the problem. I stopped the Pantoprzole 40 mgs and by evening my serve stomach cramping stopped! Pantoprzole helps reduce the acid in the stomach so the lining can heal from irritations. I've taken this drug many times when I've had to use steroids for my asthma with no problem.
I searched the web and found when HYPER food don't digest the way it should! So with that in mind I thought" because this drug is reducing my acid thus causing my food to be even LESS digested maybe JUST maybe things are just moving way to fast through my system undigested.
Bingo! I'm fine now.. I was ready for ER in the morning but by evening all was fine for me other then my stools being like pure water. Hopefully this will pass to once my levels adjust. It's nice to be able to solve at least something once in a while. Victory!
Good news.
The thing with digestive tract and thyroid - hypo or hyper is two fold. There is the acid amount (to much or to little) and the actual muscular speed of the tract itself. When the two are out of phase all he// breaks loose. Its confusing to tell whats going on. And - Proton Pump Inhibitors (acid pump stop meds) can sometimes make things worse.
So I'm learning first hand. I just tested my PH and I am 5.5 hopefully that will adjust in time also. I'm still using Maalox though just for insurance but not needing anything else now.
Hope your doing better? It's tough when it effects the feet this is the second time it's effected mine and the worse. Still recovering but still working on tweaking levels to.
Was that 5.5 PH saliva in the morning before rinsing or eating? That's acidic for sure.
During this time lots of veggies, and chicken for meat protein is the best. Red meat would not be good right now - its acidic PH. Might want to lay off gluten too for awhile. It takes time. I had nighttime reflux a few years ago, woke up choking.
My feet are better, less burning - that was freaky. My face is less hot too. Vision is better.
That was a saliva testt it was not first thing in the morning. I didn't drink or eat anything for 1 hour before testing.
I just read your thread concerning your levels.. I hope you get them under control soon. Glad your feet are not burning now.. that's a bad feeling I know.
Burning feet has always been hyper for me...first sign of hyper, my feet burn.
Excuse me for butting in on this ongoing discussion, but I stumbled onto your posts and started reading them, and boy, do a lot of your symptoms sound like ME! I have been so ill that I've been in and out of the hospital and they don't know what is wrong. But, someone on another forum said it sounds just like intermittant cyclical Cushing's disease, and I'm seeing a doctor tomorrow at the University Hospital.
But, I have been seeing a cardio doctor because all of a sudden, my feet get numb and burn and my heart rate and blood pressure is HORRIBLE, pulse is running about 118 every day, morning and evening. And I have never had high blood pressure before, but the highest it's been in the last week has been 174/117! My JAW AND THROAT AND DOWN MY ESOPHOGUS are completely numb, and that scared the crap outta me.
I had every test there was for gastro problems when I hospital, and they found NOTHING, but also put me on Protonix (pantropropozole), and Lidocaine for the burning I get. No, the numbness in my jaw and down my throat is NOT from the Lidocaine, as I am not taking it as much as I was when I was critical.
I do have hypothyroidism, and now am wondering what you are talking about being hypo and hyper? Can you help? Thank you.
90 percent of people in developed countries who have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism are actually suffering from an auto-immune disease, Hashimoto's. There's a difference, and an endo who tells you that you are hypo without testing your antibodies is doing you a huge disservice.
Get the TGab and TPOab blood tests for Hashi and a thyroid ultrasound.

If you've decided to go gluten free, then you may have hyper stages and will need to reduce thyroid hormone. Happened to me.
Or this last bump in your hormone may have been too much.
I know that your stomach is feeling better, but keep an eye on the rapid heart rate and anxiety. Get an endo who actually tests and treats FT3 levels. Your FT4 was good, but your FT3 may be over the mark. T3 is the active thyroid hormone. When I have too much in my body, it feels like a horse kicked me in the stomach. I'm quick to temper with more anxiety, heart palps and unable to sleep. Also, did I mention the gassy, bloated stomach and diarrhea?

When I'm speaking of hypo or hyper I saying my thyroid levels are off.. either high( hyper) or low (hypothyroidism). It can effect the gastric tract although I don't know about the numbness. You say you do have hypothyroidism have you had your levels checked lately?
TSH FT3 FT4 labs are very important to monitor with any thyroid patient on a REGULAR basis as far as I'm concerned. Have you had these labs done lately and if so if you can post them it would be helpful along with the reference ranges your lab uses.
Tamara~ Everything is settling for me now including my stomach. Yesterday was the first day I was able to walk without orthotic's and shoes in months! I feel like I'm recovering from my hypo nightmare finally.
Going in tomorrow for more testing, and will post then. They are always telling me everything is "normal," including a 24 hour urine catch they just checked for Cortisol. But, I will get the numbers and post them. I had no idea that you could be hypo and hyper too! Thank heavens for this site because I truly feel like I'm dying. It's affected my heart now, I have edema, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, rapid pulse, numb tingling feet, diabetes, you name it, I've now got it!
Thank you all for your posts to help me in the right direction, at least I know what to ask and about this hypo and hyper thyroidism. Tamra, I e-mailed that doctor Shane Steadman you recommended and told him my entire story and told him I would call him tomorrow. THANK YOU.
I hope you find your answer. The thyroid can cause many of the symptoms you have mentioned above if not regulated correctly. Will look for you labs.
Am so SICK of this! Been up since 6am vomiting again! Can't wait until I see this doctor, and I am NOT leaving until they do something! Even if they tell me to come back for extensive testing, that will be okay, but I'm not leaving until they alleviate some of these horrible symptoms.
Thanks so much, and I am praying for you, too! I know I'm not the only one ill on this forum.
Make sure they run your FREE T 3 and FREE T 4 and not just T3 or T4 labs which are useless and many doctor's run just the T's.
Yes, I found myself on the bathroom floor to many times.. Did you try and stop the Pantoprzole and use just Maalox or Baking soda for a day or two and see if it quits like it did for me?
My levels were not that far out of wack and yet caused REALLY big problems for me. Some may even do good at my levels but everyone is different and you have to find were you feel your best. It is good you are checking everything out. Good Luck!
