Thyroid removed in 07, does it look like its back, to you??

Hello

Me again.

Just after some opinions really and I'm pretty worried right now. I have spoken to Gay and Lu Anne and I appreciate both of your input. Thanks.

I had my thyroid removed in July 2007, and things have been pretty good. But I know have what looks like a thyroid in the same area??? But I had it out?? So now I am just very confused and wondered if anyone else could shed some light on this for me.

I also have the same annoying cough back, that I had when my thyroid was there, and horrible annoying plheym too.

I am worried.

Here is a photo. See if you can spot it.

Hi , I did a cut and paste, ommiting the the img on the start and end and youtube on the video.
I think what you are concerned about is the lumpish part further up your neck nearer your chin..that is not where the thyroid sits normally. It could be some lymph nodes which have filled with fluid, or just fatty deposits. It is also where the voice box sits roughly, so it could be just prominent. It looks to me more like fluid filled lymph nodes.
My daughter had a similar thing but further down slightly in her neck. The thyroid can grow back as AR-10 said, but it is not a common thing.
Best to go get it checked out, get your doctor to do an ultrasound and see what happens from there.
Best to do that than worry and spend time trying to figure it out by yourself...too many sleepless nights!
Cheers!

If you want to know what is in there (I didn't look at the picture), you could ask for an ultrasound.

Why did you have your thyroid removed?
Did you have RAI after surgery?

It's not possible to remove ALL of the thyroid by surgery. If you have risidual tissue and you did not receive RAI, it's possible tissue is growing, or a nodule. The thyroid cannot regenerate, but it can grow new tissue unless all of the gland is killed by radiation.
