Arghhh I forgot one more time to ask my doctor about the black areas on each side of my fronthead like a pregnancy mask! They appeared 7 years ago, pretty much at the same time my migraines appeared. I was taken no medication or birth-control pill at the time and have rarely taken the pill in my life so not related.

I know that Addison disease (adrenals) can create discoloration, generally it's more a silver color. My doctor suspects than some of my hormone problems are related to poorly working adrenals so I really need to show her my fronthead next time I see her!

IDK I am hypo, but have had dark patches of discoloration on my forehead, and more appearing on my face just recently, they are really somewhat large. I take YAZ, however, the thyroid gland works with hormones, and I wonder. The dermatologist only offered bleaching cream, and I did not take it...I have Hashimotos also, like kipland.

Interesting that you should ask that question!  I personally believe that thyroid issues(whether it be hyper or hypo) and/or endocrine issues can cause this.  Now, my primary care doc, endocrinologist, surgeon and dermatologist disagree - but the patches I have on my upper lip came at the same time that I started gaining weight and eventually found out I had hashimotos and thyroid cancer.  Coincidence?  I don't think so.  But then again, I'm not a doctor.

Dermatologist said it was melasma, which can be brought on my birth control pills, pregnancy, etc.  I haven't taken birth control pills in 20 years.  He gave me this lightening cream to use that was horrible.  It made my lip burn and dried all the skin out to where it was flaking and red.  Um....which is worse?
