Yes, Hang in there for sure! My first trip to an Endo recommended removal as well. Really! That was in 2008, although I did go a bit of a rough patch last fall, I don't think the call for surgery in '08 was the right thing to do for me.
Just a few more weeks, you can do it. I know it is very frustrating...LOL
Hi Ireland, sorry you've been through alot. Wishing you well on your journey.
I'm truly frustrated with my thyroid adventure, everyone at the forum knows what's going on, but not my Endo. Good news is, I was assigned a new one, and was asked to hang in there a few more weeks.
Yes, my labs stay normal as my thyroid continues to swell, approx 3 yrs ago my uptake was abnormal, now it's normal. But my TSH/FT4 decreasing.
Best option for Endo's, just remove it, we don't know how to figure out tests/levels.
I had an Uptake Scan in 2008 that was at 27.9%, followed up with Ultrasound and showed several cold noldules on both sides and a complex cyst (goiter). I ended up having the FNA and all results came back benign. I found an Endocrinologist and followed up with her every 6 months then graduated to yearly. Suddenly last Fall I started having shortness of breath, weakness in the legs, heart racing, swelling of feet and ankles and just extremely tired. Had another Uptake and it was at 65%, after blood work, etc, diagnoised with Graves Disease. My only option to treat was the RAI which I had done 3 months ago.
I would say to continue to monitor your results and if you don't have an Endo to find one that will know your history and do follow ups. Please let me know what the next step is and how it is going for you.
Last week uptake scan results: The 6 hr uptake value - 8.9% and the 24 hr value = 19.9% which are in normal range. Range is 15% or less 6 hr and 30% or less 24 hr.
Ultrasound tech wouldn't give me thyroid measurements, but I took a quick look at the monitor, my thyroid is getting larger.
I have 2 cold nodules, referred to surgeon.
