Very high muscular tension in my neck and around my thyroid

Hello,

i don't know if my case is related to my thyroid issue but please help !
i am a 27 yo male, extremely active (sport, once or twice a day, weightlifting crossfit ...), generally in good health. i have a very soft hypothyroidism (i take 12.5g/day of levothyrox) and occasional gastrointestinal disorders due to stress or lactose ingestion. i am checking regularly my thyroid state, so far so good.

i first checked my body and got my results in May.
TSH was 6.96
also SGOT was 55

i made a second check a month later, June,
now TSH was 7.18 and FT3 1.98
SGOT : 78
SGPT : 48

so far no medicine, just checking and eliminating some food habits including chicken proteins

third test done in july, this one was special :
Ac. anti thyroperoxydase ATPO : 1165.5 UI/ml
the number is big related to its normal values, i wasn't happy at all

i followed this test by an ultrasound, and this is the report translated from french:

- the thyroid gland is enlarged in size, with globular contours of a highly heterogeneous reshaped echo, with hypo-echoic plaques and a small hypo-echoic nodule (measuring between 2 and 3.5 mm long axis) and the largest isthmic measuring 8.7 and 5.2 mm

- hyper vascularization of the thyroid gland with color Doppler
- thyroid measurements:
the right lobe 21x20x58 mm
the left lobe: 18x18x57 mm
the isthmus: 3.7 mm

the salivary glands (under maxillary and parotid) are normal size of homogeneous echostructure
Jugular-carotid adenopathies of inflammatory type

CONCLUSION:
Heterogeneous goitre remodeled multi nodular hyper vascularized with Doppler Color

= the doctor prescribed me : 12.5g of thyroxine every morning

Next check AUGUST : everything is fine :
TSH 4.56
FT4 0.93
SGPT 44 (ok)
SGOT 41 (still high a little bit but going down)

A week ago i remarked a small red dot in my lower back (the size of a nail) and its been there since (no itching, no pain)
yesterday i went to a specialist, he gave me Doxycyline 100mg (capsules) + Delor Cream (Clobetasol Propionate) twice a day.

After taking the capsule i began feeling an IMPORTANT muscular tension in my neck and around my thyroid, it feels like it is swelling or someone is strangling me very hard. there is no pain and the neck lymph nodes are painless when touching them.

i also need to say that i am currently being exposed to an EXTREMELY HIGH load of anxiety and stress as i am dealing with a manner that i hope i'll be done with tomorrow. this situation began a week ago.

1-Is it Doxycycline who is causing this?
2- is it related to my high anxiety and paranoia?
3- is my thyroid ok ?

can't reach my doctor as i am living abroad !

thank you !!

Hi Red_Star,
Thank you for your answer !

I am sure it's related to stress, stress is killing me... especially at the moment. i am very bad at managing my stress and anxiety levels even thought i am very active and i have a lot of things i like to do. i keep myself busy with things i love. anything can irritate me, i am that kind of guy who asks himself a lot of questions about some simple things.

my current stress is related to STDs exposure after an unprotected oral sex with a girl i don't really know. even if a lot and a lot of people told me i have nothing to fear, there is no risks, i had tests done, all came negative, i still think about it.

anyway, i kinda need professional psychological help !

My stress relief is ASMR videos on youtube. I listen to ASMR every night and it really is relaxing. Tingles~!  I read the oldest person who ever lived, Jeanne Calment - age 122 - was immune to stress. Even her last name has calm in it. lol
thank you so much, what a discovery !!! those guys in ASMR videos are wonderful !!
I know right! :) I forgot to add, hypothyroidism is a cause of anxiety. You might find you need a bit of an increase in levothyroxine.

I was having terrible muscle tension in my neck this week but I thankfully I know why - asthma medication is depleting my magnesium. Magnesium...ahh the relief! :) But stress loves to deplete magnesium too as I well know. So does sugar...Grrr lol. And antibiotics including
Doxycycline deplete magnesium too. Hmmm

To quote Dr Hyman from his article - Magnesium: Meet the Most Powerful Relaxation Mineral Available...

"Think of magnesium as the relaxation mineral. Anything that is tight, irritable, crampy, and stiff — whether it is a body part or an even a mood — is a sign of magnesium deficiency."

Then there Hashimoto's thyroiditis which you have. I have this autoimmune disease as well. Stress is not nice to the immune system!

You look a little undertreated with 12.5 mcg daily. See how you feel when you are not stressed out. And take magnesium (ending in ate such as chelate, citrate).

My liver enzymes went back to normal with the right amount of thyroxine.  My TPO antibodies reduced 15% with selenium (from Brazil nuts).
