View my results, especially as relates to the thyroid.
What do you make of them.
I've been given synthroid by my primary care provider and cytomel by my gyn as a result.
Syn-0.05 mg (50MCG) 1per day.
Cytomel 25 MCG 1 per day.

I should also mention that I was told years ago that my pituitary is enlarged.

No. I did not. Truthfully, it was probably 14 years ago when I was told my pituitary was enlarged. I'm not certain it is still so. I may check on it again soon.
Similarly, 14 years ago I did my first thyroid tests. I was told I was probably midly hypothyroid then. They had done the radioactive idodine tests, etc.
Around the time, I was first told of my anemia (which I think first started after my first abdominal surgery).
During that same time period, I was first told I had glaucoma.
The problem is that I was not placed on thyroid medicine then. I was placed on iron only for a short time. I was eventually told that I didn't have glaucoma and that the first one who had diagnosed me was a quack.
Years later, I was first placed on Cytomel by a gyn and stopped it when it made me feel I would fall out. Perhaps the dosagae was too high. At the time he gave me an herbal treatment instead. When I stopped seeing him, I stopped using the herbs. Through the years, I seemed OK with everything for a while then suddenly, not so much. I started visting doctors again. They are reconfirming all of the previous concerns, fibroid, thyroid, iron and glaucoma concerns now.

Your pituitary  or PTH controls the TH for disbursement of the T4 into T3 into the system for the whole hormone system to work together. That is where the TSH labs come in.  Did you have a PTH test done?

Thanks for showing interest. Fatigue is the #1 thing that had me ask the doctor to check both my thyroid and my iron. Of course, I had other symptoms as well, but I didn't mention them because I think some of those were related to my other diagnosis. I have glaucoma as well. This is why I think the enlarged pituitary is so interesting. I read recently that when the pituitary is enlarged, it can press on the optic nerve and cause damage. Although I forgot to mention the enlarged pituitary to any of the doctors I've seen recently, I do wonder if it is troubling both the eyes and the thyroid.

Yes, thanks. I was a little confused.
I wasn't sure if you had created a second account, or if someone was playing a game.

I spent near an hour pouring over that test and writing a response, so it looked familiar when it popped up again.

At least you figured out how to get it to show up in your post.

:-)  (How do you do that?)

Maybe you'll get a few more opinions today.

And truely after my "fog head" finally looked at all the pieces together AR is right on.  It could be a early onset of Hashi's but antibodies is hard to predict.

What symptoms are you experiencing if any ? What brought you to the doctor to get those test.

Judging my the iron I would assume you are fatigued.. right?

What I am doing here is copying and pasting medhelpstudent's originial question and then copying in AR's response.

This may make this a bit easier to follow for others - as well as ME.

medhelpstudent asks:

Please review attached image of very recent results. Tell me what you make of it, particularly as relates to the numbers concerning my thyroid. I have been perscribed synthroid 0.05mg and cytomel 25mcg.

AR response as:

Your Free T3 result is quite low.
Your TSH is about a point or so high, which corresponds with the low Free T3, although I'm surprised the TSH is not higher. Too bad they didn't run a Free T4 while they were at it.

It looks like you are anemic.

You tested positive for TPOab, but the titer is less than 100, so it's not too bad.

You tested negative for TGab, which is good.

The Hgb A is a little bit high, but it looks like the report glosses over that, so it may not be  big deal. But I don't know exactly what it is.

looks like you need to address the iron issue, and you definitely need to talk to somebody about your T3.

Your Thyroid peroxidase (TPOab) antibodies are an indication of auto-immune activity. It's possible that if the titer does not rise (in fact it may fall) you may not have any trouble with it.

It is rather unpredictable. When you test out at a high titer, like 800 or 1,000, or more, it often points toward Hashimoto's.

At low titers it is an indication of an autoimmune condition tht has not reached fruition yet. There are half a dozen autoimune conditions that will show a positive test for TPOab.

Testing positive for the antibody may get you started on treatment for your thyroid faster. A Free T4 result would be nice to see, but the Free T3 is definitely in need of support.

I'm not diagnosing you with thyroid disease, but your Free T3 needs to be discussed with a doctor.

They blocked my other account because medhelp was part of my name. I liked your response but still wanted to read any other responses I might have gotten.

I should at least get a thanks from someone on digging medhelpstudent's tests up and answering her questions. She never responded back.

But since your test is identical and you're both on the same meds, I guess my response would answer your questions as well.

:-/

So, Do you have two accounts, or did you change accounts, or did you not like my answers in the other thread, or what is up?

I did look at that test. two days ago. That exact test. In a question posted by another member.

If you go to her bio page this very test is posted by medhelpstudent.

What's going on?
Leading a double life? :-)
