Was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Help with reading my lab

Can anyone please help me with my lab blood work. I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I'm a 37 year old female and I've gained 30 pounds in the last eight months. I'm only 5'2 and been underweight up until now. I also teetering back-and-forth from anxiety/full-blown panic attacks to extreme fatigue.

7-11-13              7-15-14
TSH 1.9             TSH 2.26
T4 9.0                T4. 7.9
T3 uptake 29     T3 uptake 24
T3 Free 2.6        T3 Free 1.9
T3 129               T3 140
(TPO) 9             (TPO) 14
Ferritin 53          Ferritin 64
Vitamin D 27.1  Vitamin D 23.1
VLDL 4             VLDL 5

I was placed on Triosint for 3 weeks. Then last week I started 50 mg of Synthroid. Going for more bloodwork in a few days. - I eat extremely healthy and try to be gluten free.

Hi Barb135!  No my doctor did not order a free T-3 this time.  -i'm currently taking Synthroid 50 mg. my doctor wants to increase it to 75 mg but decided to hold off considering I am having anxiety. I need to follow up with an ultrasound of my thyroid, three months ago they found it to be enlarged on one side and a small nodule on the other. Happy Thanksgiving!

Did your doctor not order a Free T3 test this time?

What medication and dosage are you on now?  How are you feeling?  Your FT4 is higher than it needs to be, at 75% of the range.  Unfortunately, Total T3 doesn't tell us much.

We need to have reference ranges for the lab results.  Reference ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.  I don't see a Free T4 result.  Was that test not done?

Unfortunately, your doctor ordered some obsolete tests, but we'll do the best we can with them.  The T4 and T3 are Total T4 and Total T3, both are obsolete, as is the T3 uptake, so when you go for your new blood work, ask your doctor for Free T3 and Free T4.  You'll save money and get much more information.

What dose of Tirosint were you started on and why were you switched from Tirosint to the 50 mcg Synthroid after only 3 weeks?
