Thank you so much for your help. I went to see a different endochrinologist who trained in US and he said the same. That my levels were perfectly normal when i was originally tested. The Dr from Bangkok Hospital has actually caused me more health problems by prescribing me high doses of thyroid hormone replacement and has caused me to become hyperthyroid. When I complained to her that I was experiencing low energy, insomnia, bad skin, palpitations (which I now recognise as symptoms of hyperthyroid) she said that my thyroid levels were fine and that I was suffering from adrenal fatigue and prescribed cortef and DHEA. When i started taking these (only for 2 days) I woke up with a severe head ache, fever, palpitations, joint pains. I really felt like I was dying!! I feel so stupid now. Bangkok hospital is very expensive and I have spent alot of money there over the past year trying to help a thyroid problem I didn't even have. The Dr must have known from my lab results that I did not need medication and was actually getting more sick from taking it, I don't understand.....obviously how they make their money out of foriegners!!
According to your first TSH level, you were in the normal range according to US standards. I don't know how they interpret them in Bangkok. The second TSH level indicates that you are hyper and should not be on thyroid replacement, unless you go hypo. The range here in the US is .3 to 3.0 or by my lab, .45 to 4.50. I would seek out an endocrinologist that specializes in thyroid. When you were given meds for adrenals, it might have caused your thyroid to be abnormal because you were on thyroid replacement. They usually treat with synthetic T4 which converts to T3 in the body and no other meds are needed. At least get a second opinion and more blood work done to determine where your adrenals and thyroid stand at the present time.
Thank you and 'hello'
Since my post i have started taking dhea and cortef. Its now 3am in Bangkok (i live here but im from uk) and i cant sleep, im burning up but shivering at same time. I also have a head ache, eye ball ache and joint pains especially in my knees. Have i become hyperthyroid or is it a side effect of the dhea/corfet??
