FNB sooner or later?

I saw the same primary care for about 6 years. He tested TSH (High) and T4 (low) and put me on Levothyroxin.  I started at 50 mcg and moved up to 75 mcg about a year later. My new normal body temp is 97 degrees.

For the last two years I have been fighting wild fluctuations of blood pressure (90/60 yo 228/114)  I have seen just about every specialist in the book and my cardiology and hypertension specialist say "I just need the right pill(S).

I went to a different primary care doc when the broken capillaries under my skin covered an area about 2.5 inches in diameter.  During my first visit he felt my throat, felt a lumpy thyroid, sent me for ultrasound, and set me up with an endo.  The US showed 3 nodules. The endo ran labs and all the Thyroglobulin ab tests were high.

His plan is to wait 6 months, repeat US and decide then if I needed a biopsy.  I hate the idea of waiting to know.  I do not have trouble swallowing food or drink but I am constantly choking on my own saliva because it is going down the wrong way.

Is it standard practice to wait to biopsy thyroid nodules once they are found?  Could my hypo-thyroid have anything to do with my bp jumping all over the place?

I also have rheumatoid arthritis so I expect an elevated Rheumatoid factor.  The endo says Hashimoto's.  From what I have read, it really does not make any difference because the treatment is still levothyroxin.  Am I missing something?

Funny you ask that.  Although physicians claim everything was normal for 5 yrs.  I believed I had thyroiditis.  My thyroid was massive with normal labs, only my antibody, wbc Etc..... were high.

Anyway's, when my thyroid began to swell, I developed double vision, called Strabismus.  My right eye muscle became weak.  After 2 surgeries, my eyes are back to normal.  I had read that thyroiditis can cause the eye condition I had.

Wonderful news your bp is being taken care of.  If your not comfortable with your bp fluctuation, there are cardiologist whom can answer all your questions providing comfort.

A few yrs ago I had a bad case of palpitations, possibly hormonal, but my labs were normal.  My cardiologist through talk therapy, help me feel comfortable, my heart wasn't going to explode.  Surely hope your bp get's under control, wishing you well.

I just take the "emergency" pill for bp when it gets dangerously high.

Did you ever have your vision seem "funny" because of your thyroid issues?

I was told pathology biopsy nodules, when they are cold.  Possibly reason your's is not fna right away.  This is good news.  Normally hypo patients have low bp in common.  I have been both hypo/hyper, my bp stays the same.

Also bp can fluctuate through out the day, change due to stressful times Etc...  most physicians like to do an avg of several bp readings over time.  Also reason when patients bp is elevated, a 2nd reading is takin after 5-15 min rest.

If your bp concerns you, consult with your physician or caridologist, address the issue, till you recieve answers.  Wishing you well.
